Atypical Meniscal Tear

Radiologists see all types of common knee injuries, but every once in awhile they encounter something unusual. One radiologist from Italy recently saw an athlete with a knee injury outside of the norm, and shared the patient case on SERMO.

The patient is male, 26 years old, and a professional football player, suffering lateral knee compartment pain post intense activity without significant direct trauma.

An MRI examination revealed a peroneal meniscus atypical tear with parameniscal edema.
