Dr. Linda Girgis, a SERMO member, wrote a poem to help welcome her new UK colleagues into the community. Read more about SERMO’s global expansion here.
Greetings from across the pond;
It is so lovely to have you here,
I hope that we share memories that we will be fond
And that we will become very near.
Medicine is a war these days,
And only doctors understand the true cost.
The beaurocacy grows and only dismays,
And so much quality is lost.
We all understand each other here,
Like no one else does outside.
Come share your tales of fear,
And your stories we will all abide.
SERMO is the place to be,
When you just have no clue,
When a patient suddenly cannot see,
Or when you do not get paid your due.
It is also where you should come,
When mandates tie your hands
Or just to tell us where your anger originates from.
Even to share your favorite bands.
SERMO is the place to stay,
To learn more about our trade,
And how medicine changes every day.
Maybe see how innovations are made.
On our site we can share so much,
Science is an interest to us all,
But we can also discuss summer plans and such,
And even our favorite mall.
On SERMO, we make many friends,
And collleagues to solve our cases.
When the world beats us down, there are many who defends,
And anonymity leaves little traces.
I am so glad to welcome you,
To this wonderous place
And hope you will find much to do
And make a comment or post a case.
Please stay awhile so we can meet,
Our commrades across the pond.
And the the evil forces of medicine defeat
As we strengthen our new found bond.
If you are an M.D. or D.O. in the US or UK, please join us on SERMO.
