Sermo is the only physician-to-physician community of its kind. Anonymous and private, Sermo derives its name from the Latin word for “conversation,” our guiding mantra that keeps us focused around providing doctors a venue to opine and collaborate candidly on a wide array of issues.
Once you’re verified as a physician you’ll find a lot going on inside Sermo. Here are some options…
iConsult: Our iConsult service saves lives and radically changes the way doctors collaborate on clinical cases. By uploading anonymous case information, a physician can ask her peers to chime in with opinions, treatment options and patient care suggestions. Historically a part of our iPhone app, we will be rolling out a web-version of the service soon with iConsult 1.1 and expanding its effectiveness with multiple product improvements.
Forums: Our forums offer lively conversation spanning business issues, current policy discussions, and patient cases. Some refer to it affectionately as “DoctorFacebook” due to a smattering of personal sharing which happens along with medical discussions. Our doctors share their personal experiences in work and life and form a bond that, in many cases, has transformed into friendships offline.
News to Know: Sermo serves up daily news items via industry-leading email daily. Check the Daily Pick for newly published studies or points of data. Join in on the discussion.
Polls: The poll of the week addresses issues of the day. Our influential polls are frequently written up here on the Sermo blog for the outside world to discuss as well and have been referenced across social media by industry leaders.
Disease HUBS: Complex disease states require the collaboration and cross-pollination of insights from different specialties. PCPs hold the charts for patients suffering from complex diseases that require guidance and treatment from multiple specialists. Our disease state and specialty HUBs aggregate and centralize key information around a particular disease or chronic illness. Citizen-physician specialists are brought together to curate and create posts and videos that offer guidance to any doctor interested in these areas. Starting with our Multiple Sclerosis HUB launched in June we are providing entirely new approaches to helping physicians navigate the challenges of their patients, and in the coming weeks, we’ll be launching Oncology, Diabetes, and Obesity HUBs. Physicians can collaborate and discuss the latest research and treatment options.
Earn Honoraria: We constantly seek our physicians’ opinions through a variety of research opportunities. As new technologies and drugs come out we want to know what you think. Expressing your opinion can earn you a little extra cash so why not?
Sermo currently has over 200,000 physicians discussing every imaginable medical topic. If you are an M.D. or a D.O. please join us inside. For even more information, check out our video at the top of the page.
